Quality has a real meaning for Delsey: luggage with lasting staying power. Everything began with the Delahaye company, which specialized in the manufacture of cases for cameras, typewriters, and record players. Delahaye and the Seynhaeve brothers joined forces in 1946 to set up Delsey. Their individual and joint experience led to them setting up a department producing moulded plastic "travel items." This resulted in the introduction of the first Delsey hard-side suitcases.
Delsey is now the world's number 2 luggage manufacturer, achieving unrivalled success producing over 3 million items of luggage a year and then sold on 5 continents. Delsey continually seeks to understand the needs of their different consumers. They use the knowledge to constantly create products to meet those needs. They always ensure that these products are presented at the right price for the consumer. The elements of the Delsey positioning are: stylish; appealing to women, appreciated by men; extra features; designs for specific consumer groups; and French style, design, and creativity.

Comments about Delsey Helium Elite Trolley Duffel:
This bag was almost all I'd hoped it would be: a multi-compartmented replacement for the bulletproof Delsey rolling duffel that's given me almost 16 years of perfect service before fraying open a bit on the bottom due to cumulative airline abuse.
Compared to the original, however, the weak point of the new bag is that it lacks a zip-over cover for the extendable/telescoping handle (my old model has one). Since the new bag lacks this, the soft leather wrap on its handle was shredded the first day of airline travel by the dear folks at Northwest. I was sadly surprised that somebody at Delsey would design-out a beautifully practical detail of the original ...
Until this is fixed, save the bucks on the fancy platinum bag and go with a cheaper model -- you may lose a few compartments, but gain in the area of component durability.
